A wide range of bird species were infected with the severe avian influenza strain. The results showed:<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Pigeons had low levels of the virus in their bodies and showed a low immune response after being exposed to avian influenza infection, suggesting that they have an inherent ability to prevent viruses from entering cells or spreading \u2013 making them highly resistant to the disease.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f0b508e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f0b508e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"color: #2372c2;\">Duer betragtes som &#8220;blindgydev\u00e6rter&#8221;, hvilket betyder, at virussen ikke replikerer eller spreder sig i dem, og de bliver ikke en smittekilde for andre fugle. <\/span><\/strong><br \/><strong><span style=\"color: #2372c2;\">Minimal risiko for mennesker: risikoen for at mennesker f\u00e5r fugleinfluenza fra duer er lig nul.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3965d3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e3965d3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>The researchers also believe they have demonstrated that pigeons have a built-in protection by having high levels of what are known as interferon-stimulated genes. These genes are important in how humans and animals respond to infections.<\/p><p>Interferons are a group of\u00a0<em>various<\/em>\u00a0proteins that act as signaling substances between cells and that increase the body&#039;s resistance to viral infections. Together, they are highly effective in resisting and controlling pathogens \u2013 the microorganisms that cause infections.<\/p><p>It is largely in flocks of birds that are raised for slaughter and consumption, or otherwise included in human flocks, that the most serious cases are found.
